Ooh La La

We recently spent some time up at the Lake Erie Islands and we got to go to the Mon Ami Winery on Catawba Island. It's been there since I was a kid and I thought it was so glamorous that French name and all. It is all fixed up with a lovely tasting room that is all wood and windows with a long bar for the tastings which we enjoyed immensely with our friends.
The bartender asked me if I knew what "noir" meant when I ordered the pinot noir and I said yes, it meant black. He then wanted to know if I spoke French to which I replied that I took it in highschool but no, I don't speak French.
He, of course, proceeded to speak to me in French and sonofagun I understood what he said. He said I was a very nice lady. I was really glad that he didn't say I was pretty or anything like that because I was about 20 years older than him and I would have known it was fake flattery. Anyway, I blushed up to the roots(am I so sophisticated or what??) and said Merci. Then he said something else while I was blushing and Merci-ing and I didn't catch that part.
I really lied though. I do speak French. I will tell you what I can say in French and you will see and admire my skill level although at a winery, none of these phrases really came up.
1. The book is on the table.
2. Open and shut the door.
3. Close your mouth.
4. The cat is black and white.
5. Where is the library?
As you would probably agree, none of these phrases are particularly necessary unless you are in kindergarten. Didn't really feel the need to use any of them at the winery! That is why I am so gentile(not gen-teel but jen-TEE)...I keep my French to myself!

Out with the Old

I hate getting new electronics. Whether it is the television or a new phone it always takes me forever to get used to it.
I just got a new phone and I should be all excited and I was until I had to recharge it and it just won't. I even read the owner's manual(not my usual modus operandi) and it didn't give me a clue why it didn't work. Now I have to go back to the store and see what is up and while I am waiting to go I have to make sure that DH doesn't get his hands on it and makes matters worse.
I must have the only phone on Earth that has a connector that has to be pushed straight in and then bended back to get it out. What is up with that?? Why doesn't it just push and pull like everything else??
I told DH about this but I don't know if he remembers and what if he touches it when I am not around like right now....no, really RIGHT NOW. If it breaks off I don't think I automatically get a new one.
So I guess I have to go now...RIGHT NOW.
Maybe I am going to change the expression to Out with the new and in with the old!!
